Your Cue to Puckin Stylin!
YOUR CUE
The first challenge you will encounter is your “Puckin Stylin”.
This is where you, as a new player, refine the way you flick the driver.
This is the most difficult aspect of the game, and will usually take an average of 10 games to develop the style that feels comfortable to you.
There are many different styles to use, (some of which we have listed below), yet they all have one thing in common-: When you flick the driver, your wrist must remain on the frame of the board and not move.
* Oxford dictionary describes a flick as follows;
Light blow with whiplash &c. shot out & withdrawn, or with fingernail;
B4 we get started you need to be aware of “impaction”.
You will know when you are impacting, because your finger will begin to hurt.
There are two reasons that cause this.
- The first is “Board Impact” which means that you are flicking the board B4 you flick the striker. This is common when you use your thumb and middle or forefinger when flicking. To overcome this problem you have to get out of the habit of using your thumb to provide resistance for your flicks, and learn to use the board surface instead.
- The second form of impact is “Striker Impact”. This occurs when your finger is too far away from the striker B4 impact. To overcome this problem, ensure that your flicking finger is as close to the striker as possible, without actually touching the striker. By doing this your finger is actually pushing the striker, but you are still using a flicking motion.
There are three main flicking styles in “PuckPool”, designed to give you optimum accuracy with no pain or fear of impaction. They are¸
Spider Flick
Cross Over
